Today, I
want to mention the life of Barış Manço and his successes. Recently, I’ve been listening
his song so much that is the reason I chose this topic. Firstly, I’ll give briefly
information about his successful and still remembered life:
Barış Manço
was born on 2 January 1943. His parents gave him a name “Mehmet Barış” since he
was born during World War II. Especially during middle school education years,
he became interested in music. He went Galatasaray High School and he founded a
music group with his friends in Galatasaray High School. The group's name was “Kafadarlar”
and this was his first group. His second group's name was “Harmoniler” and then
he moved on to “Şişli Terakki High School”. He finished high school there.
After that,
he studied graphics interior design and painting in the Belgian Royal Academy
between the years of 1963-1971. He joined a music group in Belgium. Its name
was ''Lemistgress''. This group had American, Belgian, Italian, North American,
and British musicians. After that, he went to Paris. He made two records in
1966, Paris. Then he returned to Turkey in 1970.
Barış Manço, Fuat Güler and Mazhar Alanson
founded a music group and its name was ''Kaygısızlar'' He made a song ''Dağlar
Dağlar'' and he won a gold record on account of this song. In 1971, he studied
together with the group of ‘‘Moğollar’. After that, he founded '' Kurtalan
Ekspres'' music group. He got married to Lale Manço in 1978. They had two
sons, Doğukan and Batıkan.
In 1980, he made a song and its name was “I’m
a song” so he won a gold medal in ''Gold Orfe''. He became guests on lots
of TV programs in other countries. He did concerts in a lot of countries. He
joined Eurovision in 1983i but he only passed the semi finals. In 1988, he did
a TV program in TRT1 and its name was “7’den 77'ye”. He made lots of songs and
he won 12 gold, 1 silver prizes. Lastly, he died on 01 February 1999 in Istanbul.
Manor house
of Barış Manço was turned into a museum and his personal belongings are
exhibited there.
Although passing
14 years after his death, today we still remember him and listening & singing
his wonderful songs. I’ve remember also his movie that I watched it on the TV
when I was a child. I think people in
every age not only adults but also children can listen his songs and enjoy with
them for example I remember that we were singing and dancing with “Arkadaşım
Eşşek, Ayı, Domates Biber Patlıcan” in elementary school. His songs such as “Dere
Boyu Kavaklar” are played at weddings and guests dance with it. I like almost his
all songs but the most ones are “Kol Düğmeleri, Al Beni, Hayır “, they are slow
and romantic songs.
This song is one of my favorites song of Barış Manço. It is slow and romantic. Whenever I listen it, I feel deep cry. He says that "take me where you go, I cannot live without you". I realy like its lyrics and melody.
